A sense of playfulness and humor are injected throughout the new collection of work by folk artist Theresa Disney. Meet the artist and see the debut of her 2012 collection at an open house reception on Friday, February 17 from 6 - 9pm or on Sunday, February 19 from 1 - 4pm.
Disney (no relation to Walt) has garnered a local following of fans over the last five years as she makes an annual visit to the gallery for creative inspiration and an intense period of making art.
Those familiar with her work see her fresh sense of humor coupled with a sometimes irreverent take on a wide variety of subject matter. From saints to sinners, friendship and love, cats, dogs, birds, and sheep, Disney’s playful spirit is evident. It is her devotion to creating art that has sustained her through the personal struggles of abuse, fires, cancer, and raising two sons.
