A long time resident of New Orleans, Perry Morgan III, takes his cues from the espirit de corps of life in the Crescent City. Inspired by the jazz music, architecture, and raucous celebrations that are ubiquitous in his adopted town, Morgan employs bold colors and highly patterned figures in his current body of work.

Since the mid-1980’s, Morgan has worked in a variety of media and surfaces, including clay, assemblage, painted wood, canvas, and hand-painted silk. He has received three Alpha Awards for excellence in accessory design for his silk work.

For many years, Morgan owned a gallery on Magazine Street in New Orleans and also exhibited at the N.O. Jazz and Heritage Festival. In 2005, he began working with the art department and new development for House of Blues. He joins a team of artisans who design, restore and paint scenic applications for the HOB music venues and retail stores.

All of the frames on his artwork are custom made and hand painted by the artist. His work is widely collected across the United States.
