Description: Contemporary outsider artist Michael Banks has taken the folk art world by storm. He makes his Florida debut in a show coinciding with African American History month. His signature medium is a layer of roofing tar on wood into which he scratches an outline of figures, animals or flowers and then paints over with vivid colors. After having sell out shows in Chicago, New York and Atlanta, Banks brings a collection of new work speaking to his struggle and ultimate recovery from growing up in the Alabama projects and combatting a family history of addiction. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, January 26 from 6 - 9pm.
