Sam Newton

As the younger brother of Harold Newton, it was not a far fetched notion that Sam would follow in his footsteps to become a painter. Fourteen years apart, both youngsters attended elementary and high school in Tifton, Georgia and later moved to South Florida.

Harold began his painting career at age 20 and eventually established himself as a traveling painter that roamed the Sunshine State. Sam learned to paint by watching his older brother. He adopted the same style of capturing the Florida landscape in vivid colors and bold strokes.

Harold was a prolific painter and he continued to hone his craft until a year before his death in 1994. Sam, now painting for well over 40 years, still enjoys rendering the idyllic scenes of rivers, lakes, trees, sunsets, and birds. These images of his adopted state have brought much pleasure to viewers and collectors over the years.
