Stephanie Dwyer

Stephanie grew up in Bellingham, Wahsington and moved to Mississippi in 2006 to escape an abusive marriage. She had taken a welding course before she left Washington and used her skills to make a bottle tree.

"I will never forget the first tree I made. I was fascinated with the folk tradition and as I worked, I began to feel the anger, fear, and hurt leave my body and mind. I figured the tradition must work, started making a living with my hands, and dedicated myself to keeping this powerful Southern tradition alive."

Stephanie's work is in numerous yards and gardens across the Deep South and sought after by collectors. She is currently talking with the Smithsonian Museum about creating a bottle tree facade on a future building.
