ABOUT AMY:

With a background in interior design and almost a decade in K-12 art teaching experience, Amy Lizzi strives to encourage each student to find success and to feel empowered to create!

SYLLABUS:

Day 1 – Sketchbook

After brief introductions between students and the teacher, the class will begin creating their first project: a hand made sketchbook. This sketchbook will be used throughout the course for various assignments. Amy will provide students insight into the importance of sketching, rough drafts, color and color mixing, and placement. Students will learn the meaning of foreground, background and perspective along with techniques to create hand dyed paper.

Day 2 – Studio Day

A lesson delving into the art of collage will be taught and applied with students finishing their first project they can be proud of! Students will create this first project using paper dyed on the previous day.

Day 3 – Biography

Students will begin their second design project on day three. In between projects, students will take a gallery tour to discover different artist biographies and statements. Each student will draft their own personal biography and artist statement to reflect their own creative experiences.

Day 4 – Showtime!

After putting the finishing touches on their projects from the previous days, students will select one project to hang in their class’ gallery show! Friends and family will be invited to view the students’ work in their first art show from noon – 12:30. Light refreshments will be served for the opening reception.
