Bettye Williams is a memory painter who lived in the Central Florida phosphate town of Bartow. She was a Florida native who grew up picking cotton and tobacco and stealing watermelons from her uncle's beloved patch. She never took an art lesson in her life and didn't lift a paint brush until she was flirting with 50.
