I met Cecel Allee on a road trip to Georgia. She wasn’t on my itinerary but I read about her in a magazine on the first night of my trip. Cecelia, or Cecel had a career in finance but lost her voice during a serious surgery. As she convalesced, she decided to try painting. Having no training or expectations, she discovered that the art therapy worked its magic. As her voice came back, she contemplated returning to her finance career. With the support of her family, she followed her heart and has never looked back.
This reads like the making of a contemporary folk artist. I am attracted to Cecel’s technique, choice of materials and subject matter. Her work draws me in like a good southern story. Enjoy!
