About the Event
As the gallery phases into fall, we’re excited to announce a new Harvest Moon Workshop with Julie Latayan. Julie channels her inner moon child to bring to life a workshop beaming with whimsy, folklore and seasonal splendor.
Julie will guide participants as they create a slab-based moon head to be wall mounted. Working with paper clay allows participants a great amount of freedom and yields striking results. All work will be available for pick up the following week after Julie has time to fire the sculptures.
Students must bring their own lunch or dine out at one of the restaurants in walking distance from the gallery. This event also coincides with Sanford’s weekly farmers market which usually has a nice selection of food vendors.
Space is extremely limited therefore all reservations must be booked and paid for in advance.
About the teacher: A self-taught artist, Julie began her career as a painter and muralist. Her love of art and wish to share her talents led her to teach high school art for five years, and later open her own gallery/studio. When Julie is not exhibiting at art fairs or filling gallery orders, she now teaches sculpting workshops for adults and children. She is an accomplished carpenter, handyman, wife, and mom. Safety precautions:
- We require all students to wear a mask.
- Students will be seated at their own six-foot table, located at a safe distance away from others.
- If you have been sick or you have been in contact with a sick person, we ask that you stay home.
