Bat by Josh Cote
Medium: steel wire
Josh's artwork is outdoor safe but he recommends annually spraying each piece with silicon spray from any hardware store to keep the rust at bay. Each bat has mutable wings and the hanging wire is easily adjusted so that it can be displayed upside down or in the soaring position. Let us know if you have any questions!
About Josh Cote:
Growing up in the 1970’s as a son to two traveling artists, Josh Coté was exposed to art at a young age. Attending the University of Michigan to study medicine, Josh soon realized that his true calling was in sculpture. After leaving the university Josh decided to pursue his passion.
Using recycled aluminum and copper wire, Josh Coté creates intricately designed sculptures. With only needle-nosed pliers, innovative techniques developed by the artist are applied as the wire is painstakingly hand-manipulated, wrapped and woven to itself. Using negative space, combined with the linear nature of the wire, the finished work is much like a pen and ink drawing in sculptural form.
