Road Trips & Rare Finds
Since she opened her art gallery in 1997, Jeanine Taylor has been hitting the open road to retrieve southern folk art from all over the Deep South. These road trips have taken her from Louisiana’s low country to Alabama’s Black Belt, from the Smokey Mountains to Kentucky’s coal country.
Her travels serve as an important opportunity to catch up with the artists she represents, discover new artists, and keep a stream of fresh art flowing throughout the halls of her gallery. Road Trips and Rare Finds is a showcase of the work brought back from a five-day sojourn throughout Florida and Georgia.
Jeanine made stops at the home studios of Cornbread, Wayne Hewell, Bailey Jack, Sarah Rakes, Alyne Harris and Melissa Menzer. You’ll also see many pieces from other artists she found along the way. Enjoy!
First Stop:
The Foxfire Museum
One of the first stops on Jeanine’s road trip was to the Foxfire Museum. Located in the northeast mountains of Georgia, Foxfire was a student created magazine that began in 1966.
